Cole Barruffi

My name is Cole Barruffi (he/him), and I am majoring in Applied Biotechnology with an emphasis on microbiology and plant biofuels.
I chose my major in biotech due to its huge applications in modern-day problems regarding medicine and agriculture.
I enjoy learning about the uses of genetic engineering and how DNA can be manipulated in an organism to achieve a desired outcome or product.
On campus, I am primarily involved in research with the Fungal Lab through Dr. Arnold. At the end of this year, I will have been there for two and a half years, where I have been fortunate enough to learn about how a lab operates in addition to acquiring the skills needed to be a part of large research projects and general lab work.
When I’m not involved with school, I like to spend time watching shows with my friends at the library and going to the tabletop gaming club meeting to play games.
If I weren’t going to school in Arizona, then I would also be out fishing every day.
I am here to provide any answers I can for questions you might not have thought about asking.
I can also introduce you to any resources at the university that you might have an interest in using. Feel free to reach out to me or stop by my office hours:
