Study abroad with CALES
Did you know… most CALES majors have a study abroad option!
This means you can complete coursework while studying in a different country for a semester. Through University of Arizona partnerships all over the world, you’ll build globally relevant skills, explore beautiful countries and broaden your academic horizons with applied coursework that sets you apart in the job market.
How to study abroad as a CALES major
Studying abroad is more accessible than you’d expect, especially when you start planning early and strategize with your advisor. With the right timing and guidance, you can explore the world without adding time to your graduation plan.
Here's how to get started:
Talk to your academic advisor early. The sooner you loop them in, the easier it is to build study abroad into your four-year plan.
Find a program that fits your degree. There are many ways to study abroad through CALES, including the preapproved Global Tracks or faculty-led research opportunities. Carefully read through program descriptions to find one that matches your degree requirements.
Explore funding and scholarships. Whether you’re looking for scholarships or want to apply your financial aid to study abroad, you can read more about financing options through the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
Apply and complete your approvals. Once you've found the program for you, submit your application and complete all required approvals.
"I learned a lot about myself and the world around me. Studying abroad was definitely my favorite experience I had during college and I will forever be grateful I got the opportunity to do it.".
— Grace, Spring '24
Study abroad scholarship opportunities
Cost shouldn't be the reason you skip studying abroad. Many university-wide and national scholarships exist specifically to help students fund their international coursework. Opportunities vary depending on your major and the type of program you choose, so talk to your academic advisor about what's available to you.
