Your hard work and dedication have paid off—congratulations on being recognized for your outstanding academic achievement! In the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences (CALES), we are proud to celebrate students like you who demonstrate excellence in their studies. This page highlights two key honors—the Dean’s List and the CALES Dean’s Scholar Program—both designed to recognize and showcase your achievements as part of the University of Arizona’s tradition of academic excellence.
CALES Dean's List Recognition
Dean’s List recognition is awarded every term, based on units completed for credit and letter grade. Each term, the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences (CALES) recognizes undergraduate students whose previous semester academic performance placed them on the Dean's List. Criteria for earning Dean's List is established by the University of Arizona.
Dean's List recognition becomes part of a student's official record and appears on the student's academic transcript. Additionally, CALES honors students who earn Dean's List with a digital certificate they can customize with their name and enjoy however they wish!
Contact us if you would like your name removed from the public list or don't see your name.

CALES Dean's Scholar Program
The CALES Dean’s Scholar Program (new as of fall 2025) celebrates students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement each year. By completing 30 or more units across the fall–summer academic year, students can earn recognition for their hard work and dedication to excellence:
- Sage Scholar – Awarded to students who achieve a perfect 4.000 GPA. Honorees receive a sage cord.
- Silver Scholar – Awarded to students who achieve a GPA between 3.500 and 3.999. Honorees receive a silver cord.
Cords are a lasting memento of your distinction, representing the commitment and perseverance you’ve shown in your studies.
Annually during Family Weekend, CALES hosts the Dean's Scholar Recognition Ceremony to honor students who have achieved sustained academic excellence in undergraduate degree programs for the previous academic year. The event not only celebrates the hard work of students, but also serves to recognize the family and friends who support them.
