Local attractions

There is no lack of out door activities in and around Tucson. Please check this website from Tucson vistor and convention bureau.

Within a short drive from the meeting site are Sabino Canyon and Saguaro national park (east and west). There is no better representative of Tucson than the elegant Saguaro cactus. You can literally see hundreds of them in Sabino Canyon and Saguaro national park. There are numerous hiking trails in both places.

For a short day trip outside Tucson, Mt. Lemmon, Kitt peak and Tombstone are attractive options:

1. Mt. Lemmon is located northeast of Tucson at the end of the Catalina Highway. Elevation: 8,200-9,150 feet and receives approximately 180 inches of snow annually!! More information here.

2. Kitt peak is one reason why the city of Tucson is known as the "Astronomy Capital of the World." Kitt Peak National Observatory houses the largest collection of astronomical telescopes anywhere, including the largest solar telescope. The summit of Kitt Peak is at an elevation of 6,875 feet. The observatory is located 56 miles southwest of Tucson via State Route 86, then take Hwy 386 up to the mountain. For more information, see here.

3. To get a real southwestern experience and feel, what better place can be there than Tombstone, Arizona. More information here.
