My name is Cole Barruffi (he/him), and I am majoring in Applied Biotechnology with an emphasis on microbiology and plant biofuels.

I chose my major in biotech due to its huge applications in modern-day problems regarding medicine and agriculture. I enjoy learning about the uses of genetic engineering and how DNA can be manipulated in an organism to achieve a desired outcome or product.

On campus, I am primarily involved in research with the Fungal Lab through Dr. Arnold. At the end of this year, I will have been there for two and a half years, where I have been fortunate enough to learn about how a lab operates in addition to acquiring the skills needed to be a part of large research projects and general lab work.

When I’m not involved with school, I like to spend time watching shows with my friends at the library and going to the tabletop gaming club meeting to play games. If I weren’t going to school in Arizona, then I would also be out fishing every day.

I am here to provide any answers I can for questions you might not have thought about asking. I can also introduce you to any resources at the university that you might have an interest in using.
