Welcome to the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences (CALES)! In CALES, we like to celebrate and recognize academic milestones - your first semester as a Wildcat is just that! New Student Welcome is designed to connect you with peers, resources and help you create support networks.
Destination AZ: Next Stop CALES
This event is a mandatory event part of Destination Arizona (Orientation); no RSVP needed
Friday, August 22 | 2 - 3:30 p.m.
Grand Ballroom, Student Union Memorial Center
- Join the entire incoming class for a welcome from CALES leadership, engage in a Q&A from staff & current students on a panel & more!
New Student Open House
Saturday, August 23 | 1 – 3 p.m. (drop-in anytime!)
Forbes Building, Lobby
- Kick off the academic year with snacks, explore your class schedule with the help of the Peer Mentors & CALES Ambassadors, and join the CALES Wellness Leaders for a wellness activity at 2 p.m.
- The best part? Stop-by to get your exclusive 2025 class t-shirt!

- Learn about free services available to you as a learner in CALES related to: academic coaching, mental health & wellness resources, career coaching, and student clubs & organizations to join!
- Cool off with a sweet treat & good company (GF and DF options available)

First Gen Fall Welcome Mixer
Thursday, September 4 | 4 - 5:30 p.m.
Forbes Building, Lobby
- Connect with fellow first-gen peers, faculty, staff and supporters while discovering resources designed to help you navigate university life from a first-gen perspective.
- Tour the First Gen Den, an exclusive study spot for first-gen students
- New & returning students encouraged to attend!
Am I a First-Gen Student? A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree or students whose parents/guardians attended college outside the U.S.
Club Fair
Thursday, September 11 | 5 – 6:30 p.m.
Environment & Natural Resources 2 (ENR2), Courtyard
- Explore 30+ student-led clubs & organizations connected to the College of Agriculture, Life & Environmental Sciences
- Featured clubs include: Sigma Alpha (professional agricultural sorority), Pre-Veterinary Club, TREND Fashion Club, Food Science Club, Cutting Edge Sewing Club, Fish & Wildlife Society, Microbiology Club, Alpha Gamma Rho (professional fraternity), National Retail Federation Student Association & many more!
