What's so special about drylands?
A small cache of seeds (marked
with pink fluorescent dye) that has been recovered by a kangaroo rat
in the Mojave Desert, California, USA. Kangaroo rats (Dipodomys species)
avidly store seeds in their home burrows and also in small “scatter-hoards” such
as these throughout their home ranges. Image credit: Nick Waser. |
