Couples’ Healthy Immune and Emotions Study (CHIMES)
Rebecca Reed, a doctoral candidate in Family Studies and Human Development, is recruiting heterosexual couples to participate in a study to better understand how partners’ daily emotions and stressors affect their immune functioning. How effectively partners can emotionally and immunological recover from stressors may have relevant implications for their physical health and well-being.
To be eligible, individuals must be over the age of 18, in a current romantic relationship for at least 6 months, and both partners have to be willing to participate.
During this study couples will complete an online survey about their emotions, daily stressors, health behaviors, and relationship functioning. Couples will also be asked to provide a saliva sample (to assess immune functioning) and complete a brief daily diary 4 times per day for 5 consecutive days. Couples will also come to the Lang Laboratory at the U of A where they will be videotaped talking together about their relationship. Physiological measures such as heart rate and blood pressure will be measured.
Monetary compensation will be provided.
