The Frances McClelland Vision Award is given to honor a community leader who has made a lifelong commitment and significant contributions to the well-being of children, youth, and families. The community leader embodies the strength, dedication, vision and passion that Frances McClelland exhibited throughout her life. This award is for a community leader who has dedicated their life and work to helping Frances McClelland’s legacy and vision come to fruition for the people of Southern Arizona and the world.
The Rosenda "Rosie" Ruelas Castro is a proud active volunteer helping and serving her community since grade school. Rosie is currently involved with the Women's Foundation of Southern Arizona and serves on the Board of Trustees, helping women and children thrive for a better lifestyle and better opportunities. She's also volunteered in schools, helping her siblings and friends with the role of a helper/leader. With the help of her amazing parents she is excited to e a role model for her five younger siblings and help them grow into leaders. Rosie just graduated from Canyon Del Oro High school '18 and will now attend Pima and later U of A to fulfill her goal of becoming a Forensic Anthropologist. Rosie is the recipient of many awards, including the Linking Hispanic Heritage Through Archaeology '17, and the Oro Valley Rotary Club Scholarship. In her free time she likes to keep on learning languages and reading cultures, spending time with family and friends, dancing, reading, and hiking. She is excited and eager to keep to have an impact in the community, and help as much as she can to make the world a better place one voice at a time.
