The Frances McClelland Vision Award is given to honor a community leader who has made a lifelong commitment and significant contributions to the well-being of children, youth, and families. The community leader embodies the strength, dedication, vision and passion that Frances McClelland exhibited throughout her life. This award is for a community leader who has dedicated their life and work to helping Frances McClelland’s legacy and vision come to fruition for the people of Southern Arizona and the world.
Rev. Alison Harrington is pastor of Southside Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona. A graduate of UC Berkeley and San Francisco Theological Seminary, Alison is a sought after public speaker and prolific writer. As the pastor of Southside Presbyterian Church, Alison plays a central role in the immigrant rights movement in Southern Arizona and a national leader in the Sanctuary Movement. In 2010 she was named one of Tucson’s 40 under 40 and in 2011 she was awarded the Beatitudes Society Brave Preacher Award. In 2013-2014, Alison was a Beatitudes Society Fellow. In the Fall of 2014, Alison was named by the Center for American Progress as one of 15 Faith Leaders to Watch in 2015, she was honored as the 2016 Distinguished Alumna for SFTS, and most recently was recognized as one of the "10 Women of Faith Leading the Charge Ahead" by Sojourners.
