HUA (Hydrologic Unit Area) Projects

These projects were developed to address the problem of increasing groundwater levels of nitrate in some areas of Arizona. In an attempt to reduce agricultural
sources of this contaminant, educational programs were provided, involving on-farm nitrogen and irrigation demonstrations. Also the use of Best Management
Practices were described in grower meetings, field day displays, publications, newsletters and individual contacts. Technical assistance was provided to producers
for improvements, such as irrigation systems and land leveling.
