Forb Plant Description

Origin: Native Life Cycle: Perennial
General Desc: Basal leaves with purplish stems and erect flower stalks having loose clusters of yellow daisy-like flowers.
Identification notes: Ovate serrated basal leaves, few and reduced leaves on the stems, several flowers per stem, hairy basal leaves, leaves with stems and erect flower heads distinguish this from other Senecio sp.
Height: 12 to 16 inches

Habitat

Habitat Description: Openings in pine-oak woodlands.
Plant Communities: Pinyon Juniper Woodland, Montane Conifer Forest
Elevation: 5250 - 6900 feet

Flower Characteristics

Color: Yellow Shape: Daisy or dandelion-like in round clusters Tubular: N Flowering Period: Apr - Jul
Description: The flower head has yellow ray and disc flowers. Flowers are in loose clusters above the leaves.

Leaf Description: Leaf stems and veins are covered in white hairs and are often purplish. Basal leaf stems are usually more than 6 inches long. Flower stems have only a few smaller leaves.
