Perennial; stemless; rhizomes and stolons absent; bulb solitary and prominently veined, 3 to 7 bulb scales (fleshy, succulent layering); compound leaves of 3 heart-shaped leaflets; umbrella-shaped flower clusters. Identification notes: Plants not stemmed; no rhizomes; form bulbs; leaves basal, leaflets 3 to 5, 4 common, rounded triangular shape, green upper surface, green to purplish lower surface; flowers in groups of 1 to 7, petals white to red to pinkish purple. Height:

Habitat Description: Streambeds, stream banks, meadows, pinyon-juniper, pine-oak-juniper, or pine-aspen woodlands.
