General Desc:
Erect and ascending; basal, woolly leaves are single, lanced-shaped to partly lobed; flower heads of 1 to 8 yellow disc flowers (no ray flowers) on top of long stems. Identification notes: Leaves divided into 2 to 7 pairs of relatively broad lobes, densely matted woolly hairs, H. filifolius., has finely divided leaves; basal rosette of smooth margin leaves; somewhat large flower heads; hairs on seeds sometimes obscure scales on top.
