Origin: Native   Life Cycle: Annual
General Desc: An erect, branching, shrubby annual with narrow arrow-shaped leaves and small yellow to orange flowers.
Identification notes: Only 2 species of Anoda known in Yavapai County. This species is the yellow/orange blooming species, the other is pinkish-purple.
Height: To 6 feet


Habitat

Habitat Description: In or near disturbed or agricultural land. Open, well-drained habitats.
Plant Communities: Interior Chaparral, Semidesert Grasslands, Pinyon Juniper Woodland, Disturbed Areas
Elevation: 4500 - 5500 feet


Flower Characteristics

Color: Yellow to reddish-orange     Shape: Regular in clusters     Tubular: N     Flowering Period: Aug - Nov
Description: The five petaled flowers are small, yellow to reddish-orange to 3/8 inch diameter. They are found in loose clusters growing from the leaf axils.

Leaf Color: Green     Leaf Type: Simple     Leaf Shape: Triangular     Leaf Margin: Lobed     Leaf Attachment: Alternate     Leaves Clasp: N
Hairs: Leaves and stems     Spines: N
Leaf Description: The leathery leaves are lobed, arrowhead-shaped or lance-shaped with toothed edges.


Fruit and Seed Characteristics

Fruit Notes: Fruits are round to disk-like with 5 to 20 segments and covered with fine hairs.
Seed Notes: Seeds are less than 1/8 inch long.
