Forb Plant Description

Origin: Native Life Cycle: Perennial
General Desc: A small stemless plant lacking hairs.
Identification notes: A stemless hairless plant having an inflorescence that is a loose compound umbel of yellow flowers. The bright green foliage and fruits not strongly compressed distinguish this from other genera in the Apiaceae family.
Height: 2-1/3 to 10 inches

Habitat

Habitat Description: Has been found in canyons of the Sedona area and at the Grand Canyon.
Plant Communities: Pinyon Juniper Woodland, Montane Conifer Forest, Riparian
Elevation: 4500 - 7000 feet

Flower Characteristics

Color: Yellow Shape: Regular in round clusters Tubular: N Flowering Period: Apr - Jun
Description: Bractlets only 1/8 inch long. Has 4 to 8 rounded clusters of flowers per inflorescence. Flower stems exceed the height of the leaves.

Leaf Color: Bright green Leaf Type: Compound Leaf Shape: Pinnatifid Leaf Margin: Lobed Leaf Attachment: Basal Leaves Clasp: N
Hairs: No Spines: N
Leaf Description: Leaves are 3/4 to 3 inches long. Oblong in outline. Leaflets are linear-oblong and twice pinnate or pinnately lobed.

Fruit Type: Winged
Fruit Notes: Fruit 1/8 to 1/3 inch long.
