Origin: Native General Description: Evergreen. Subshrub or shrub with a bushy, broom-like habit; stems woody only at bases; relatively small leaves; early flowering period, flower heads borne singly at ends of stems. Identification notes: Up to 3 feet tall, much branched from a woody base, bushy, broom-like habit, stems woody only at base. Leaf margins smooth or finely serrated, herbage not hairy or slightly hairy, not glandular; brownish-purplish bristles top the seeds. Height: 2 to 3 feet Width: 1 to 2 feet
Habitat Description: Found on sandy, limestone, gravelly or saline soils. Plant Communities: Interior Chaparral, Pinyon Juniper Woodland Elevation: 5000 - 6000 feet
