Origin: Native General Description: Evergreen. Broom-like shrub, up to 10 feet tall, freely branched. Identification notes: Plants freely branched, broom-like; leaves sparse or absent at flowering; flower heads unisexual, borne singly on branch tips in crowded branched clusters; known by its broom-like growth form and large oval leaves which wither before flowering. Height: 10 feet Width: 4 to 6 feet
Habitat Description: Found in gravelly or sandy streambeds, dry washes, and grasslands. Plant Communities: Desert Scrub, Interior Chaparral, Semidesert Grasslands, Riparian Elevation: 2200 - 6000 feet
