released by U.S. Geological Survey Water Resources Educational Initiative
and NSTA. The series is designed to help teachers investigate the integral
role that water plays in our lives with students grades three through
eight. The series can be integrated into almost any science curriculum.
Volume 1 addresses “Wetlands, Water Use, and Wastewater Treatment.” Volume
2 addresses “Navigation, Groundwater and Water Quality.” Volume
3 addresses "Oceans, Watersheds, and Hazardous Waste." The

a clearly-written background section on the major concepts. Next, the
