Glutamine synthesis inhibitor - inhibits the enzyme glutamine synthetase causing the rapid buildup of ammonia in cells but this is no longer thought to be the primary cause of cell death. The lack of glutamine also causes a buildup of glyoxylate that inhibits photorespiration and photosynthetic electron transport. Triplet chlorophyll and singlet oxygen increase causing lipid peroxidation and membrane disruption. Symptoms include bronzing of leaves followed by chlorosis and necrosis. glufosinate - Finale, Liberty, Rely (No photo available)
