NOTEBOOKS

Organizing Student Notebooks

1. The department should purchase notebooks, notepaper and dividers early in the summer.
2. Students should be taught how to organize their notebooks during the first week of the school year.
3. Number of dividers should be kept to a minimum
4. General format and evaluation should be identified by the teacher prior to beginning of school.

Utilizing Student Notebooks

1. The teacher should take class time to instruct students on how to use notebooks.
2. Teachers should use notebooks for class notes and storage of handout materials.
3. Provisions should be made for storing notebooks near the door in an organized manner.
4. All notebooks should be identified by a student ID

Evaluating Student Notebooks

1. Notebooks should be evaluated according to pre-established standards and at regular intervals.
2. Record of evaluations should be kept in individual notebooks
3. Notebook evaluations should be used in determining 9-week grades.
