NOTEBOOKS
Organizing Student Notebooks
  - The
    department should purchase notebooks, notepaper and dividers early in the
    summer.
 
  - Students
    should be taught how to organize their notebooks during the first week of
    the school year.
 
  - Number
    of dividers should be kept to a minimum
 
  - General
    format and evaluation should be identified by the teacher prior to beginning
    of school.
 
Utilizing Student
Notebooks
  - The
    teacher should take class time to instruct students on how to use notebooks.
 
  - Teachers
    should use notebooks for class notes and storage of handout materials.
 
  - Provisions
    should be made for storing notebooks near the door in an organized manner.
 
  - All
    notebooks should be identified by a student ID
 
Evaluating Student
Notebooks
  - Notebooks
    should be evaluated according to pre-established standards and at regular
    intervals.
 
  - Record
    of evaluations should be kept in individual notebooks
 
  - Notebook
    evaluations should be used in determining 9-week grades.
