Notice of Intent (NOI)
In order to be covered by the Arizona NPDES
General Permit for CAFOs, a Notice of Intent (NOI) must be submitted
to EPA and, for those operations not on tribal land, ADEQ.
A NOI is not an application for coverage.
It is a notice of intent to be covered by the permit. It is a first
step in the permit process.
An existing operator can still submit a NOI.
A new CAFO (after August
27, 2001) must submit a NOI 90 days prior to the time the operation
becomes a CAFO. In addition to the NOI, an operator must also submit
an Environmental Impact Document (EID).
An operation that is designated by ADEQ or
EPA as a CAFO must submit the NOI within 90 days after designation.
Appendix
A
(43 K PDF) of the permit
(107 K PDF) has the NOI form.
To determine
the latitude and longitude of the facility, the topozone website
(topozone.com) will be useful.
You will also need to determine the 25
year - 24 hour storm event for your location.
