Online Information and CD-ROM ProducersThe information industry is changing in dramatic ways. As information technology changes and becomes more available, the industry adapts by providing more options for corporate and individual users. Companies established to provide online access to databases are producing CD-ROMs and companies developed to produce CD-ROMs are now providing web access to databases on a subscription basis. Here are a few of the major companies providing access and producing CD-ROMs of various databases. You may also want to contact your local libraries to see what sort of access they may be able to offer. Some databases will be unique to a particular access provider. Many will be accessible through a few of them. Since contracts between database producers and access providers are renegotiated periodically, it is best to check directly with the producers or the providers to be sure what is available from whom.
