The Fall/Winter 1999 issue of the Arid Lands Newsletter will focus on the theme of Tools for Small Farmers. This issue, Number 46, will be published towards the end of 1999.
In this context, "tools" is intended to be interpreted quite broadly. For example, farmer associations, microcredit programs for farmers, readily available radio programs in local languages, improved dryland crops, high-tech or low-tech methods: all could be tools that will help small farmers in drylands around to globe to provide adequate food supplies and financial security for themselves, their families and their communities.
Proposals for papers, comments, suggestions for possible authors, suggestions for resources (web, paper, CD-ROM etc.) to be included, etc. are welcome. Please send your suggestions to Katherine Waser, Editor, Arid Lands Newsletter.
