(April 2015)
Ravi Palanivelu was recognized by SARSEF
Our lab has been actively involved in promoting STEM education in Southern Arizona over the past several years. We presented activities related to pollen biology in multiple outreach events, participated in judging science fairs at various levels in southern Arizona, conducted visits in our lab for Girls Scout troops, schools, and community colleges, and hosted high school students and teachers to do research in our lab.
In recognition of the service to STEM, Ravi Palanivelu was selected as one of the Top 60 STEM leaders in Southern Arizona by SARSEF (Southern Arizona Research, Science and Engineering Foundation).
At a private dinner reception on April 15, 2014, he was honored by the SARSEF along with other community leaders (mostly CEOs and Deans of colleges at the University of Arizona) with a certificate (pictured above). In addition, information about him was included in the "Celebrating Our STEM Community Leaders” slide show and program that will appear at celebration events throughout the year.
