Tucson Village Farm: Education Intern

Position Primary Function/Purpose : The candidate in this position will work for Tucson Village
Farm, a seed-to-table agriculture literacy program that reconnects youth to a healthy food system,
teaches them how to grow and prepare fresh food and empowers them to make healthy life choices.


Major Responsibilities & Duties:
● Deliver mini-lessons about the plants and animals
on a farm, and the importance of each; teach basic
health concepts as they relate to the food on the
farm
● Greet teachers and parents as they arrive to field trip
programs, engage them throughout the program,
and oversee their departure
● Oversee student behavior and safety during their
farm tour; encourage students to follow farm rules
● Portray a joyful and positive attitude to get children
excited about hands-on learning
● Verbally report challenges and highlights of each
school group to the field trip coordinator; brainstorm
suggestions for program improvement, as needed


Minimum Qualification: Willingness to work outdoors in
various types of weather; Enthusiasm to learn and teach
new lessons; Love for the children on Tucson


Required Availability: Flexible; must commit to one 3-hour shift per week for one semester (shifts
are from 9-12 AM on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)


Compensation: Internship credit (arrange with your department) and free vegetables whenever the
garden allows!
