As a foreman, the position you would be taking on would be to learn farm operations from ranch manager. Our manager has 30+ years of experience operating 6000+ acres of Pistachios. As a foreman, they will be responsible for executing day-to-day tasks in a 4-5 year-old pistachio orchard. These tasks include proper irrigation, tractor operator, ATV operator, repairs and maintenance, general orchard care, and overseeing other employees. We are willing to invest time in training the right candidate.
We are a young, dynamic company growing our acreage and team in 2020 and beyond. Currently, we have roughly 1700 acres of planted pistachio trees. This opportunity is great for any smart and ambitious individual that can apply the knowledge they’ve learned in school directly into the field.
As younger growers, we are aiming to build a farming company for the long-haul that will emulate the hard work, high character, and quality operations of past generations of successful growers – but also incorporate modern farming practices, technology, and business strategy.
At a young company, roles will evolve over time, but initially the key responsibilities of this role will be:
Irrigation and fertility (~40% of time) · Activating and deactivating the irrigation system
- Checking for leaks in the drip hose
- Executing an irrigation schedule along with fertilizer application
- Monitoring soil moisture
Tractor & ATV operator (~40% of time)
- Tractor operations include mowing, tree spraying, and ground preparations.
- ATV operations include monitoring the irrigation system, weed spraying, and rodent baiting
General Orchard Care (~20% of time) · Reviewing overall tree health and identifying areas of concern· Rodent baiting· Tree tying· Insect monitoring
