There are 7 herbicides registered for use on melons grown on Arizona. Four of these will only control weeds before they germinate. These include Trifluralin, Prefar, Dacthal and Curbit. One, Sandea, will control some weeds before they germinate, some after they germinate and some both ways. Two herbicides, Poast, Select and generics of these will only control grasses and only postemergence. A chart that summarizes how these herbicides are used and the weeds that they control can be found here.
