Areawide Insect Trapping Network (September 28, 2016)
Results of pheromone and sticky trap catches can be viewed here.

Corn earworm: Moth activity has decreased significantly in all trap locations over the past two weeks. Trap catches were very low in each trap.

Beet armyworm: Armyworm moths remain active across all locations with activity greatest Tacna, Roll and in the Yuma Valley.

Cabbage looper: Cabbage looper activity has increased in all trap locations, particularly in Tacna, Roll and the Yuma Valley. Trap catches were considerably higher this last week as compared to this time last season.

Whitefly: Adults captures on sticky traps continue remain seasonably low, but are on the increase around Tacna/Roll.

Thrips: Thrips activity was unusually high this past week and numbers caught were considerably higher last week compared to this time last year. Activity was greatest in the Dome Valley location.

Aphids: In most traps, aphids have been detected. However, a few cabbage aphid alates were found on traps in the south Gila Valley, Dome Valley and Yuma Valley. Their arrival is about a week ahead of last year.

Leafminers: Adult activity is generally low in most locations, but large numbers of adults were caught at the Wellton and south Gila locations.
