A ED 301: Youth Leadership DevelopmentAssignment: Youth Leadership ActivitiesIn order to provide additional experience in an effort to build individual competence in working with youth organizations as a professional adult leader or volunteer, it is vital that students in the course work with functioning youth organizations. Therefore, a variety of possible activities are incorporated into the course as outside assignments. Students should select those activities that will help to strengthen areas where they believe they need additional experience. In certain instances students may have opportunities to participate in a youth activity not listed as an approved activity. In such a case, the student must obtain prior approval from the instructor for such an activity to meet the requirements of the course. Each activity is assigned points based upon its degree of difficulty and importance to the development of leadership abilities. Ten (10) activity points are approximately equal to three (3) clock hours of time, hence, students should plan to invest about 45 hours in these types of activities during the semester. A maximum of 150 activity points may be earned during the semester in this category. Written reports for each activity are to be submitted on the Youth Leadership Activity Record Card form upon the completion of each activity. Suggested Leadership ActivitiesStudents should select the activities in which they plan to participate. The value of the activity in points is shown in the (red) following each activity.
